StratoSpheres Plugs

A new form of resin handling has been developed in our group, Stratospheres Plugs, commercialised by Polymer Laboratories Ltd, where the synthesis resin is co-sintered with an inert ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene matrix which remains chemically intact. This modular cylindrical support is much easier to manipulate than loose resin, is perfectly suited for 96-well plate parallel synthesis and is stable to vigorous stirring and centrifugation. Moreover, apart from toluene, resin plugs are compatible with any common organic solvent, hot or cold. They can be devised with transponders incorporated for encoding and they can also be easily sliced for qualitative tests.
